As a deputy with St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, I was promoted to sergeant over uniform patrol and was selected to be a part of the first motorcycle division. I also regularly assisted the narcotics division and was a member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Task Force.
I enrolled at LSU to further my education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. While at LSU, I established a small business and was self-employed for just over a decade, understanding the struggles of our local business owners.
Wishing to return to community service, I joined St. James Parish Government as the Planning and Permitting Supervisor. I was later promoted to Assistant Director of Operations and I am currently the Assistant Director of Emergency Preparedness.
Although my family's home, like so many others sustained damages during Hurricane Ida, we still made time to help others in need. I believe the greatest attribute of our community is how we come together and take care of each other.
I, Ryan Donadieu, would like to announce my candidacy for Sheriff of St. James Parish in the upcoming 2023 election. It has been my passion for quite some time to take an active role in ensuring that St. James Parish is a safe and desirable place for my family and all residents. I feel that I possess the qualities necessary to be a leader in our community and make positive changes for the betterment of our parish.
I am a life-long resident of St. James Parish and a 1996 graduate of Lutcher High School. After high school, I attended Nicholl’s State University briefly before pursuing my interest in law enforcement. During my time working for the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, I was promoted to sergeant over uniform patrol and was selected to be a part of the first motorcycle division. I also regularly assisted the narcotics division and was a member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Task Force.
In 2004, I enrolled at Louisiana State University to further my education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. While at LSU, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and established a small business. After graduating, I continued to develop my business from a single person business to multiple crews working from New Orleans to Baton Rouge.
When areas of our parish began to flood after Hurricane Isaac, my employees and I volunteered to help sandbag homes along with residents from all over the parish. It was amazing to see our community come together to help each other in a time of need. After this event, I was inspired to do something to help our community and took a position with St. James Parish Government as the Planning and Permitting Supervisor. I was later promoted to Assistant Director of Operations and am currently the Assistant Director of Emergency Preparedness after serving as interim Director during the change in administration.
I have had a broad wealth of life experiences leading me to this decision, calling me to step up and make a change to better protect our community. I have gone to work wearing a bullet proof vest to protect our community, seeing first-hand the dangers we face. I ran my own business for over a decade, donating time and volunteering in our community. I now work for St. James Parish Government in Emergency Preparedness continuing to serve our area. With a vested interest of having a young family and an undeniable passion for our community, I ask for your support in making a change to ensure a safer place for all our families.
Sincerely,
Ryan Donadieu
I believe that an elected official should be the voice of the community, fight for the needs of the residents, and earn their trust.
With your support, I look forward to being that person for St. James Parish.
